Russia, where I am from, we have saying, “Ваш локоть близко, но вы не можете его укусить” English, “Your elbow is close, yet you can’t bite it.” This is how I think about amplifier design. Superb performance is close but elusive. Perfect on paper; nothing special in sound, and often bad reliability. Pretty chassis, maybe, but who cares if it doesn’t work and sound is bad. There are many ways of design and many specifications. In the real world, most glitter, but no gold.
